Miss Bi Juin Loong, a PhD student from the Department of Biomedical Sciences, was recently awarded the coveted Tri-Campus Postgraduate Prize. She is currently under the supervision of Dr Kang Nee Ting, Dr Yvonne Mbaki and Dr Kuan Hon Lim. In addition to demonstrating that certain rat tissues retain their functional integrity after 24 hours of storage, Bi Juin is currently evaluating the effects of Ficus schwarzii Koord (a natural plant compound), on vascular tone.
