NUBS Malaysia Dean co-opens Conference on The Malaysian Economy Towards 2020 - Issues and Challenges

Professor Lee Chew Ging, Dean of NUBS Malaysia, co-opened the Conference on 'The Malaysian Economy Towards 2020: Issues and Challenges' at the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, Singapore, together with Mr Tan Chin Tiong, Director of the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute. The two-day conference, which took place on 22-23 March 2016, was jointly organised by the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, Singapore, and The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. The conference was also supported by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS).

The conference saw about 80 participants discussing Malaysia's trade, manufacturing, services, Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), education, labour market, poverty, inequality and well-being; infrastructure, regional development, agricultural and resource-based industries, SMEs, healthcare, development planning, banking and finance, and fiscal sustainability.

Professor Lee was also the Moderator for a session on the first day of the Conference, which saw a presentation by Professor Rokiah Alavi from the International Islamic University Malaysia dealing with issues and challenges in the area of Services, and a presentation on GLCs and SOEs by Ms Wan Khatina Wan Mohd Nawawi, Director of Research at Khazanah Research Institute, Malaysia.
