GRASP

Four Open-source Geospatial Lab Internships available

Applications are invited for four part-time internships at Open-Source Geospatial Lab, School of Geography as part of the Open Source based Geospatial Resource for Agricultural Species and Pests (GRASP) project in conjunction with Crop for the Future Research Centre (CFFRC)

The research works focus on building upon the existing GRASP platform developing additional features to the web interface and integrating with custom data for bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea), detailed requirement analysis and documentation of GRASP framework for future extension to the CropBase (A web-based knowledge platform for underultilised crops) developed at CFFRC.

The duration of the internships is 10 weeks (20 hours/week), and a stipend of RM200 per week will be available for the successful applicants. 

We welcome applications from students in all disciplines (both undergraduate and postgraduate) who have strong programming skills. Experience in open source GIS software development is desirable but not necessary as training will be given. This project requires candidates to be innovative in developing new techniques and applications, and to be able to work independently to tight deadlines. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Very mathematical and analytical skills are also essential as is the ability to work in a team.
