Educational Aims
Nottingham University Business School Malaysia Campus offers the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree programmes which are designed to be studied on a full-time or part-time basis. The overall objective of the School’s MBA programme is to educate individuals as managers and business specialists, and thus to improve the quality of management as a profession. The MBA programme adds value to first degrees by developing in individuals an integrated and critically aware understanding of management and organisations, in an international context and assists them to take effective roles within them.

The purpose of this programme is:
- The advanced study of organisations, their management and the changing external environment in which they operate

The School’s MBA programme is designed to provide a course in general, financial and corporate management for individuals seeking career advancement or diversification. The core subjects are aimed at developing knowledge in the fundamental management disciplines, along with the ability to apply this knowledge to business issues in an integrated fashion. The elective subjects permit participants to concentrate in-depth on more specific subjects according to individual interests and career requirements. Most modules involve participation in group work with participants from many different industrial, commercial, geographical and cultural backgrounds.

Programme Outline
The MBA programmes are full-time degrees studied over a period of one year, although it may also be taken on a part-time basis over between two and four years.
The teaching for full-time in semester one is conducted in Semenyih, our main campus while in semester two the teaching is conducted at our teaching centre in Kuala Lumpur. The teaching for part-time is conducted at our teaching centre in Kuala Lumpur.
Teaching for the programme is normally by semester-based or block modules with contact time around 3 hours per week for taught modules.
Each programme has a modular structure, with individual modules each having a weighting of 10 credits. One 10 credit module represents 100 hours of study including formal teaching, independent study, revision and the preparation of assessments. Each programme requires the successful completion of 180 credits: 120 of which are taught modules, and the remaining 60 credits comprise a management project (which includes an element of management research ethics and methods). In addition, full-time students are expected to attend introductory study skills sessions, a personal development programme, a careers management programme and interviews, business leader special lectures, and additional workshops and seminars. Reading and self directed study is required throughout the course, in addition to preparation for project work and assessment.
Distinguishing Features
The degree provides an advanced course for those seeking career advancement in business and management. The MBA programme aims to develop knowledge and skills in fundamental management disciplines, while also including specialist modules in various areas of management. Participants will develop the skills to implement agreed solutions effectively and efficiently, along with interpersonal skills which enable them to interact effectively across a wide range of business stakeholders. Participants may use the management project to concentrate in-depth on a management topic specific to individual interests and career requirements.

- Comprising an individual project on an approved subject relevant to the chosen specialisation, and normally related to a practical issue in the student's work experience or employer (weight 100%).
Management Project
60 credits (Full-time)
- Comprising an assessed taught element on management research ethics and methods (weight 10%), and an individual project on an approved subject relevant to the chosen specialisation (weight 90%).
Group Management Project
60 credits (Full-time)
- Comprising an assessed taught element on management research ethics and methods (weight 10%), an individual project on an approved subject relevant to the chosen specialisation (weight 30%), and a group project on an approved subject relevant to the chosen specialisation (weight 60%).
(III) ADDITIONAL MODULE CHOICE INFORMATIONStudents are required to select two additional 10 credit MBA elective modules from those provided by the School in the Spring semester or alternative block modules.
