About the Graduate School
The Malaysia Graduate School has been exclusively developed for postgraduate students and early career researchers. Our mission is to work closely with schools, students and research staff in order to:
- Develop a dynamic environment where faculty-specific training and careers events take place for postgraduate research students and early career researchers.
- Provide a vibrant and thriving learning and social community.
- Create an environment that fosters cross-disciplinary interaction and collaboration.
The Graduate School is strategically located in Block B, Ground Floor and managed by Deepa Kumari and Anita Pathma. We offer a range of facilities, including a seminar room which seats up to 60 people, a lounge area with comfortable sofas and tables, wireless connection, board games and magazines. Postgraduates and early career researchers can access the facilities at all times and can enjoy free tea, coffee and daily newspapers.
The seminar room (BA05) and the Graduate School (BA64) is bookable, free of charge, and can be used by postgraduates and early career researches for reading/study groups, practicing presentations or for any other kind of event relating to your study of work at the University.

Community building and social events
We work with researchers and students to develop social events throughout the year. These range from lunchtime get-togethers to a full day of activities. The Graduate School is a thriving community where you can come and relax with a coffee, have a break from work of study, meet other postgraduate students and researchers and develop a really constructive network of friends and colleagues. Communities provide both professional and personal support—make sure you are a part of this community.
We need your input
The Graduate School is for research staff and students and led by research and students. Your input is vital to the work of the Centre, so if you have ideas for a specific training or social event, please let us know. So why not generate and share your ideas and enthusiasm, help plan and direct events and learn some really useful skills in the process?
If you would like to discuss how we might support your ideas for seminars, conferences or other events and socials, email: anita.pathma@nottingham.edu.my or call in to see Deepa Kumari (8633) or Anita Pathma (8634).
Placements
A programme of placements with host companies and organisations will be developed over the course of 2010 providing postgraduate students with the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience in both a research and professional work context.
