It is advisable to devote some time and effort that into finding a supervisor before you submit your application as this will reduce the amount of time taken overall. Finding a supervisor may seem like a daunting task but it need not be. The first step is to look through the University website and go to the relevant School or Faculty page for your topic and browse the research interests of our academics.
Once you have found somebody who appears suitable then you are ready to begin the process of application. If you cannot find a suitable supervisor then you can contact the Graduate School for advise at this point and we will help where possible with information.
The PhD proposal should demonstrate an awareness of your chosen topic and an indication that you have considered the parameters of your research. For advice on the specific requirements of the proposal such as length and format, please contact the relevant School or academic for advice as this may differ depending on School or subject matter. The proposal is crucial for our application process as it enables academics to decide whether your topic is feasible for completion and whether we can offer supervision or not.
