half-mast-flags

Staff and students of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) observes one minute’s silence on 22 August 2014 in solidarity with the national day of mourning in Malaysia.

“As a mark of respect for the victims of MH17 and their loved ones, our flags fly at half-mast. The one minute’s silence took place at some point between 10.45 and 11.15 today,” said Professor Christine Ennew, CEO and Provost of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

“Provisions have also been given to students whose examinations are in session during this time, so that they were also able to join in this nationwide mourning,” Professor Ennew said.

UNMC also flew its flag half-mast on 18 July 2014 after the news of the MH 17 crash in Ukraine late evening of 17 July 2014.

“It is such a sad occasion for all of us in Malaysia, and on this day our thoughts and prayers go out to all family members and friends who wait for the remains of their loved ones to return home,” Professor Ennew added.
