UK-Asia Lifetime Achievement Award for Vice-Chancellor

David Greenaway

The Vice-Chancellor of The University of Nottingham received a lifetime achievement award for enhancing educational ties between the UK, China and Malaysia on Tuesday November 10 2015.

The awards were presented at Kensington Palace in London during the 7th annual World Chinese Economic Summit, a business forum promoting links between China, South East Asia and the West.

HRH Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia and His Excellency Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the former President of Indonesia, jointly conferred the Awards.

On receiving his accolade, Professor Sir David Greenaway, Vice-Chancellor at The University, said he was “honoured to be recognised”.

“The University of Nottingham has enjoyed long and fruitful relationships with both China and Malaysia. From our two pioneering campuses in Ningbo and Semenyih we have built global graduate networks, strong government ties and programmes of internationally-significant research and development, delivering mutual economic benefits. It continues to be an exciting time for UK-ASEAN collaboration and we look forward to seeing the results of our future international endeavours in higher education.”

The forum had been organised by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute and The Asia House London with the support of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade; the China Mayors’ Association and China British Business Council (CBBC).

Held on November 10-11, the forum brought together more than 400 participants, including policy-makers, business leaders, entrepreneurs, researchers and thought-leaders from around the world.

Discussions and events focused on forging greater Pan-European collaboration and the role China plays in world economic development.

The University of Nottingham has many connections throughout Asia spanning education, research, innovation, business engagement, trade and investment.
