Biography

Dr David Keeble originally studied Physics at the University of Sussex (BSc) and the University of Leicester (PhD). He subsequently studied for a BSc Psychology Degree with the Open University. A career change led him to the field of visual psychophysics and a series of postdoctoral research positions at the University of Reading, the University of Edinburgh, the Institute of Ophthalmology (now part of University College London), McGill University, and NTT Basic Research Laboratories, Japan. He then took a lectureship at the University of Bradford, Department of Optometry, being promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2004. Whilst at Bradford, he was involved in setting up the new BPS accredited Psychology degree course, on which he taught for 8 years. David joined UNM School of Psychology in August 2014, serving as Head of School from December 2014 to August 2020.

  • PSGY3037/C83NIA Neuroscience of Illusions A

I also teach on:

  • PSGY1015/C81PRM Practical Methods in Psychology
  • PSGY3023/C83MPR Research Project

Research Summary

I am interested in all aspects of how the human visual system processes visual input, including but not limited to:

  • Texture Perception
  • Spatial Localization
  • Effect of punctuation on reading
  • Face recognition

I would be interested in enquiries from potential PhD students in the above topics.
