Introduction

The ever expanding role and use of the English language in all sectors of life across the globe has led to the growth of wide and differentiated formal and informal English language education structures and systems.

The Centre for Research in English Language Education at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus is committed to conducting world-class research into the range of issues related to English language education particularly in non-native contexts.

  • Studies on the incorporation and utilisation of the Common European Framework for languages (CEFR) as a benchmark for setting standards for the study of English as a second or foreign language
  • Studies on professional development and mentoring of English language early literacy professionals 
  • Contribution to the Malaysia English language Roadmap agenda covering pre-school to university education, including teacher education.
  • Studies on English language competence, employability and workplace readiness
  • Studies on issues related to the learning of English as a second or foreign language
