Biography
I graduated with a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Malaya in 1997. After working two years as a construction engineer and later as the division superintendent for a Canadian construction company, I further my studies at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok with a scholarship from the Japanese government. After completing my Master of Engineering degree in Construction Engineering and Management, I went to UMIST in Manchester to work as a research assistant and completed the Master of Philosophy degree in Civil and Construction Engineering.
After returning to Malaysia in 2003, I worked as construction manager for 4 years before joining the University of Nottingham. I had taught various construction management modules in the department of Civil Engineering and serve in various administrative roles within the faculty. I was appointed to head the department starting January 2014.
I have also been appointed as a panel adjudicator with Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (www.klrca.org).

Currently, I teach the Year 3 and Year 4 modules in construction management, focusing on project planning and management of concurrent projects, risk management, quality management and construction law. I use simulation games to teach civil engineering students the importance of integrating theoretical knowledge and professional judgment in managing construction projects.
Current Research
Currently, I am studying the application of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in construction projects in Malaysia. This forms the core of my PhD studies. In addition, I am involved in the development of remote sensing tools for monitoring large-scale infrastructure projects.
