“Creative Nonfiction: Researching, Writing and Crafting True Stories on Orang-Utan Conservation in Sarawak”  

Christina’s presentation will include how she conducted her research and how she used data from that research to craft creative nonfiction pieces, 34 in total, within a range of eleven subgenres, the eleventh being a new subgenre she has named the Crafted Interview.

She will also be reading from one of her creative pieces.

About the speaker:
Christina Amanda Yin Chueh Ping did her PhD in Creative Writing at the School of English, UNM. She passed her viva in September 2020, making her the School’s first PhD graduate in Creative Writing. Her thesis, Creative Nonfiction: True Stories of People involved in Fifty Years of Conservation of the Orang-utan in Sarawak, Malaysia, is part scholarly and part creative.
