Hosted by UNMC Careers Advisory Services, the two-hour Careers talk event is an opportunity for our students to hear and have a first-hand account from the speakers about life as a translator, the defining characteristics of the job, the good practices, benefits and drivers of being a translator and the different translation specialities available out there in the job market. It was a very inspiring and engaging talk by the speakers. The takeaway here is, translation work is far from easy because it can be very complex, arduous and intricate work. A good translator will be continuously moving between languages and mind frames in order to get the work done. The most challenging part would be having to conduct on site translation during high level events, where the output is instantaneous.
