Biography

Mr. Jean-Christophe Graffe is the Director of the Language Centre at the University of Nottingham, Malaysia. He is an Associate Professor in French.

He obtained his B.A. in Linguistics and Language Sciences from the University of Rennes 2. He completed an M.A in Linguistics and Didactics of French as a Foreign Language (FLE) and intercultural studies at Rennes, France.

After completing his studies, he worked as a French tutor at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées of Rennes (French Engineering Elite Schools) and subsequently as a Lecturer in French at the Alliance Française of Wuhan, China for several years. Prior to joining UNM, he was appointed Lecturer for the Pre-France Engineering Foundation Programme at the Malaysia-France Institute-UniKL. He has been with the University of Nottingham since 2011.

He has taught / co-taught LK34FB UoNUK Stage 4 modules (B2 level) and R12062 UoNUK Year 2 French Language (B2/C1 level)

Current Research

Mr. Graffe's research interest focuses on French Phonetics and French as Second and Foreign Language acquisition: Materials development and French language pedagogy. He designed and implemented hybrid French courses using Flipped Classroom and Project-Based Learning approaches. Currently, he is focusing on Online Teaching courses using French Media. He is a TV5Monde accredited teacher and principal examiner-scorer for the DELF (Official diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify candidates' proficiency in French).
