Dr Chin Chiew Foan and her team comprised of final year student, Mr Yap Cheng Lock, and PhD students, Ms Tan Hooi Sin and Mr Tan Boon Chin, have won the best poster award (under Functional Genomic category) at the International Symposium and Workshop on Functional Genomics and Structural Biology (9-13 May 2011) at Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya, Malaysia.
The poster presented was entitled “Proteomic analysis of callus culture in oil palm”. The aim of this study was to make use of proteomic technology to analyse callus induction from matured oil palm embryos and attempt to identify the putative genes associated with callus formation.
