Xin Yi with the Awards

The Intervarsity Biochemistry Seminar (IBS) is an annual event of the Malaysian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (MSBMB) which provides a platform for undergraduates to present and share their research findings, exchange ideas and research experiences particularly in the biochemistry, molecular biology and biotechnology fields.

This year 10 public and private universities with more than 200 graduating undergraduates in Malaysia participated at the 27th IBS held in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on 14th May 2016. Two of our Biosciences undergraduate students presented their final year projects in both oral and poster formats in this event. We are very happy to announce that Miss Wong Xin Yi was awarded for The Best Oral Presentation and won the First Prize. Her project was “Enhancement of bone cell growth and differentiation by using nanocomposite scaffolds with incorporation of Lignosus rhinoceru” supervised by Prof. Sandy Loh and Dr Lim Siew Shee (Faculty of Engineering).

The School of Biosciences would like to congratulate Xin Yi on her great achievement which has positively boosted up the profiles of the university and the school as well. Her success would definitely encourage a continual participation of our students to showcase their research findings in coming seminars.
