UNMC Research on edible coatings featured on National Geographic

Research on edible coatings at the Centre of Excellence for Postharvest Biotechnology (CEPB) at University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) continues to receive international recognition. The National Geographic (Hungary edition) published an article on the research activities at the CEPB. “A New Era of Edible Coatings” was the title of the featured article that appeared on the 5th of December on the National Geographic Hungary website. The article highlighted the ongoing research at the CEPB and its efforts on the enhancement of food security. The CEPB has pioneered the use of gum Arabic - a natural based product - as an edible coating for the extension of the shelf life of perishable fruits and vegetables, and has successfully published numerous scientific articles on composite edible coatings.
