The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and School of English, Malaysia Campus invites you to an Open Lecture Dynamic Repairs: The Emerging Landscape of Adaptation Studies on 25 March 2014. 

This talk will examine the recent vibrant activity in the field of adaptation studies research, offering a landscape of current practices and ideas, using specific case studies to both highlight and challenge current methodologies. The lecture will cover a range of genres, from novel to film, and from immersive theatre practice to the potentials of the new digital creative economies. En route we will consider theories of creativity, globalisation, and intellectual property. Canonical texts including works by Shakespeare and Dickens will be key reference points in the case study examples.

About the speaker: 
Professor Julie Sanders (University of Nottingham UK, currently Vice Provost at UNNC) is the author of Adaptation and Appropriation (Routledge, 2005), which has been translated into several languages. She has spoken on the topic of Adaptation Studies in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA, China, Hong Kong, Denmark, Korea, and Belgium in recent years, as well as at various conferences and symposia in the UK. 2014 takes her to Malaysia, Taiwan and Japan. She serves on the editorial board of two international peer-reviewed journals in this field, Adaptations and the Journal of Adaptation in Film and Performance.
