Manager; International Student Visa

We are seeking suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Manager position in International Student Visa Office at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.

The Manager is expected to oversee delivery of informed and high-quality services by the International Student Visa team. Providing line management, process enhancements and leadership direction in ensuring smooth operations and to promote a better international student experience. To advise and support stakeholders across the University and externally in relation to student visa matters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of Visa Office in line with university’s values and strategy.
  • To contribute to the development, review and implementation of the student visa and related processes as administered by Visa Office team.
  • To lead on resolving student complaints and visa issues swiftly and efficiently, ensuring clear advice and solutions are presented. Liaise with EMGS and Immigration Dept pertaining to all international student applications when needed.
  • To be the contact person for related agencies such as EMGS / Immigration / MoHE / PDRM. To represent UNM at external meetings and ensure positive external stakeholder engagement is addressing visa related matters.
  • To establish effective lines of communications with students, Head of Schools, Head of Departments, academics administrative staff and provide necessary information and updates pertaining to student visa guidelines and changes in process.
  • Provide support to all external stake holders (students/parents/agents/Embassies) on student pass/visa matters and others duties as assigned by the superior.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be required form time to time, including cross-department collaboration and activities as directed by the Registrar.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong educational background, educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • High level of interpersonal, communication, negotiating and teamworking skills.
  • Ability to adopt a flexible, creative and solution focused approach to challenging problems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and develop strong relationships.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team of staff effectively in order to achieve service objectives.
  • Ability to develop and deliver high quality and innovative training and workshops to both small and large groups.
  • Strong and comprehensive knowledge of student pass/visa processes including immigration requirement and regulations.
  • Resilient with a focus on continuous improvement and the ability to deal with challenges positively.
  • Ability to working under their own initiative, especially during peak periods, to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Extensive working experience working in university environment managing international students related matters.
  • Experience working/engaging with EMGS/Immigration Dept/PDRM and embassies.
  • Dealing with international student pass/visa application and related matters for both full-time and part-time students.
  • Strong knowledge of visa requirements and the various academic documentation with good track
  • record in successful application submissions.
  • Significant line management responsibility, including experience of conducting staff appraisals and management of staff training and development needs.
  • Experience of managing and successfully delivering high quality and efficient processes and training.
  • Experience of working with international students or stakeholders.
