The University of Nottingham’s 5th Tri Campus (TCG) will be held at The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) from June 10 to June 14, 2013. The games will showcase students from Nottingham campuses in Malaysia, the UK and China who will compete in an international sporting competition.

“We are looking forward to welcoming students from the UK and China who will compete fiercely in sporting events while forming new friendships with students from UNMC,” said Professor Christine Ennew, Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Provost and CEO of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

The Games are hosted annually by campuses of the University of Nottingham in the UK, Malaysia and China. University of Nottingham Tri Campus Games maiden event was hosted at University Park Campus, Nottingham UK in June 2009. UNMC hosted the Games for the first time in 2010 in conjunction with its 10th Anniversary.

“Sporting events offer a genuine opportunity for sporting and educational exchange in the friendly spirit of competition and at Nottingham we are capitalising on our international presence to offer an international event which is fun and exciting,” Professor Ennew said.

UNMC which was established in 2000 was the first British university to establish a foreign campus in Malaysia. It currently has more than 4,700 students studying for foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Engineering and Science. The games this year will kick off with an opening ceremony and cultural performances on June 9 and end with a closing ceremony and presentation of medals on June 14 at the Great Hall of UNMC.

Games played include football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, squash, tennis, table tennis and frisbee. The Games involves nearly 200 students from over 20 different nations competing in three international campus based teams. A friendly match will also be organised for team Nottingham to compete with students from universities in Malaysia namely Nilai University and Help University.
