Members of staff and students of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) recently participated in the Allianz Pacesetters Relay held in aid of Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation.

A team of four academic staff members finished in 6th position out of 50 teams which participated, in what was an exceptional achievement for a group of amateur runners. The team crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 10 minutes and 31 seconds.

The team of academics are Dr Mahendra V Chilukuri and Dr Grace Lim Soo Yong, Assistant Professors with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Dr Sean Matthews, Head of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures and Chan Wen Li, Assistant Professor at Nottingham University Business School. All four academics regularly participate in runs in Malaysia and overseas, more recently they represented their respective faculties in the Road Relay event held in conjunction with UNMC’s annual Staff Sports Carnival.

"It was a tremendous achievement for us, and we hope that this will be the start of more participation by staff and student teams in the local running scene to support worthy causes. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of participating as a team as it provided a good avenue for us to bond as colleagues and to fuel team spirit," said Chan Wen Li.
