Malaysian and UK Research Internships for Students

The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus is offering three internships for the duration of eight weeks over the summer holidays. These internships are available to second year undergraduates at UNMC only. Two of these will be at the Malaysia campus, and one will be at the UK Campus.

Internships at the school of Psychology, UNMC, Semenyih.

Application deadline: Friday 9th March, 5:00pm

Students interested in this scheme are strongly encouraged to approach one or more of the potential supervisors in Malaysia working in areas in which they would like to gain research experience before their application to discuss the various projects that are available this year. Each staff member will be allowed a maximum of one school-funded internship and supervisors are asked to support no more than one internal studentship application. However, supervisors may support as many external applications as they wish. The stipend for the internships in Malaysia is RM600 per month x two months.

If you are interested in making an application you are encouraged to submit an application form in electronic format to neil.mennie@nottingham.edu.my by the deadline. The form can be obtained from the link at the bottom of this page, and it must be also be completed by your potential supervisor.

Internship at the School of Psychology, Nottingham UK

Application deadline: Monday 20th February at 5:00pm (UK time).

As the number of studentships is always limited, to successfully obtain an internship a candidate would need the support of their potential supervisor (who’s not allowed to put forward more than one candidate). This means you need to put forward as strong a case as possible to him/her as to why you’d want to spend 8 weeks in their lab.

If you are interested in applying for this, then you should make contact with your potential supervisor as soon as possible, as the deadline is Monday 20th February at 5pm (UK time). Please submit completed applications in electronic format to (Rebecca.martell@nottingham.ac.uk). All applications must be received by the deadline for consideration by the Research Committee in the UK.

The School of Psychology at UNMC will be prepared to help you with some of your costs, but be aware that you will have to find additional sources of income to help you do this. The school is willing to fund one return flight to the UK, and to assist you with accommodation charges of up to RM2000 in total. You will be reimbursed when your return to Malaysia upon presentation of valid accommodation receipts. Additionally, there is a stipend of RM600 per month x 2 months (this will be banked in directly into the intern’s bank account at the end of each month). It will be up to you and your potential supervisor to arrange and procure the proper documentation regarding visas, health insurance, etc.

The application form for both schools can be found at:
