The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Professor. The post holder will deliver excellent, inclusive teaching and learning across foundation and undergraduate programmes, lead modules as a Module Convenor, and contribute to curriculum enhancement and development. They will develop and maintain a strong research profile through scholarly publications, actively contribute to knowledge exchange and external income generation, and provide sustained service to the Department and the wider academic community through academic administration, professional engagement, and continuous professional developmentt.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Convene and deliver modules offered by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, ensuring all teaching and learning activities (e.g., lecture, laboratory, tutorial, project) are conducted aligning to the module learning outcomes and program outcomes.
  • Perform teaching quality assurance on the assessments and learning activities, taking account into feedback from both internal and external stakeholders, so that appropriate CQI actions are implemented in accordance to the PSRB requirements.
  • Supervise undergraduate capstone/FYP projects and contribute to postgraduate research (PGR) supervision as appropriate. In addition, provide academic advising and pastoral guidance to support student progression.
  • Develop and execute research activities within the area of expertise and publish in reputable journals. Submit competitive grant proposals as PI/Co-PI by building collaborations internally or externally with public/private sector for impact research and knowledge exchange.
  • Contribute to departmental and university administration service, including accreditation, committee participation, student recruitment/outreach, and engagement in continuing professional development.

Job Requirements:

  • A PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering
  • An accredited undergraduate degree in Engineering
  • Major in Control Systems or/and Automation or/and Robotics.
  • Evidence of excellent teaching and presentation skills.
  • Excellent spoken English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, incorporating written and oral communication skills, time management, organizational skills, ICT literacy, and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrate experience working in higher education sector.
  • Track record of scholarly outputs within their area of expertise.
  • Collegial, respectful and open, actively supports EDI and an inclusive learning and working environment.
  • Undertake academic administrative duties and contribute to Department/School, Faculty and University priorities
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng), and a postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g., PGCHE or equivalent), are preferred.
