The School of Pharmacy at The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) invites applications for two Assistant Professor positions in the following areas:
- Pharmaceutical Technology
- Pharmacy Practice
The post holder will be expected to contribute to academic activities through the delivery of high-quality teaching and research, and they will be required to undertake administrative work and/or management functions as required by the line manager and to generally assist with the efficient and effective running of the School of Pharmacy and the wider university. The position will involve working closely with colleagues at the UK Schools.
Generic Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the School of Pharmacy is able to make the best possible contribution to UNM’s performance in relevant teaching and research ranking processes, e.g. MyRA, by the timely submission of relevant data as and when required.
- Work closely with colleagues at UNM and units at the UK and China operations to support the internationalisation of education in relation to both research and teaching and encourage and facilitate opportunities for student exchange across all of Nottingham’s campuses and to other partner institutions.
- Contribute to marketing and external liaison activities, including domestic and international student recruitment.
- Demonstrate commitment to equality of opportunity for both students and staff, respecting and encouraging diversity throughout the School and university.
Generic Job Requirements:
- PhD (or be about to complete) in Pharmaceutical Technology or Pharmacy practice/Clinical pharmacy.
- Bachelor or Master Degree in Pharmacy
- Knowledge of and/or exposure to the Malaysia pharmacy profession.
- Registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia or any other Pharmacy professional body.
- Excellent organisational skills and the potential for leadership.
- Proven skills in motivating colleagues and undergraduate / postgraduate students.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to represent the School, both within the University and externally.
- Communication, research and teaching skills.
- Experience in an academic role at a School/Faculty of Pharmacy (or related subject) in Malaysia.
- Experience of working as a member of a team, using demonstrable interpersonal, negotiating, influencing and teambuilding skills.
- Possess an excellent command of English and be an outstanding communicator, who will act as an ambassador for the School and wider university.
- Demonstrate commitment to equality of opportunity for both students and staff, respecting and encouraging diversity and cross-cultural sensitivity throughout the School and Faculty.
