We are seeking suitably qualified candidates to apply for ONE position of Assistant Professor of TESOL at the School of Education, University of Nottingham Malaysia. Candidates with a recognised qualification whose teaching, research, and professional development agenda align with the School of Education’s and the university’s, are invited to submit an application. We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to take ownership of their responsibilities, work collaboratively as a strong team player, work independently and effectively, and show sustained motivation to advance knowledge in the field.
Key responsibilities include:
- To contribute to high quality teaching, curriculum development and programme enhancement across foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate modules.
- To effectively supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research.
- To conduct rigorous and -impact research in TESOL/cognate areas.
- To carry out administrative responsibilities including student recruitment, marketing, committees, and accreditation processes as assigned by the Head of School or University.
- To demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development, including advancement in subject knowledge, research skills, and pedagogical expertise throughout their academic career.
- To maintain the highest standards of professional integrity, constructive collaboration, and respectful conduct at work.
Background and Experience:
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following:
- A PhD in TESOL/TESL/English Language Education or a cognate discipline
- Experience working in TESOL/TESL/English Language Education/Education portfolios in schools and/or higher education institutions
- Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision
- Good track record of securing grants and publishing research in TESOL or cross disciplinary areas
- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- A strong team player, with self-initiative at completing tasks.
- Preferably able to start on 1st September 2025
