The University of Nottingham Malaysia is seeking an Assistant Supervisor (Landscape) to join our Estate Department.

The Assistant Supervisor (Landscape) supports the Team Leader and Facilities Manager in coordinating daily landscape maintenance activities and outsourced personnel, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved schedules, quality standards, and operational requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Site Supervision & Quality Control
    • Coordinates daily landscape maintenance activities, checks completed works against quality standards, ensures compliance with safety and PPE requirements, and maintains proper housekeeping and site cleanliness upon completion of daily activities.
  • Plant Health & Equipment Care
    • Checks and reports on the health and condition of plants, identifies signs of pests, diseases, deficiencies or damage, and coordinates appropriate corrective or replacement actions. Conducts monthly checks of machines and equipment to ensure availability, proper maintenance and good working condition.
  • Vendor Team Coordination
    • Coordinates daily work activities of outsourced workers and landscape contractors, supports toolbox meetings and work briefings to communicate work priorities and safety requirements, and promotes effective teamwork and communication to maintain productivity, service quality, and overall team performance.
  • Reporting & Documentation
    • Assists in maintaining inspection checklists, work progress and equipment records, compiles incident and defect reports, and provides timely updates on work progress, outstanding tasks and site issues to the Team Leader or Manager.
  • Environmental & Additional Responsibilities
    • Supports waste management and housekeeping, assists with inspections, audits and site walk-throughs, provides support during emergency landscape works, helps address minor issues before escalation, and ensures assigned landscape areas remain clean, safe and presentable.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Landscape Management, Horticulture, Agriculture, Environmental Management, or related field.
  • SPM with relevant landscape experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in landscape maintenance, horticulture, or grounds maintenance.
  • Experience in scheduling routine maintenance works.
  • Good knowledge of tropical plants, turfgrass, trees, shrubs, and landscape maintenance practices
  • Ability to supervise teams and monitor work quality.
  • Proactive, responsible, and willing to work outdoors.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability for emergency response outside of regular working hours (evenings, weekends, or holidays).
