Mphil/PhD Studentship in Division of Biomedical Sciences

Applications are invited for a fully funded 2-year Mphil studentship post (1-year probation in the first instance) in the Division of Biomedical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham Malaysia. Successful applicant will be involved in sampling, propagating dust mites and investigating the ozone therapy effect on the dust mites The student will gain extensive hands-on training in the field of Mite Allergy and Applied Immunology. The project has the potential to advance to the PhD level. Candidate with experiences in mammalian cell culture will be an added advantage but not a prerequisite for the application. Tuition-fee waiver and monthly stipend RM1800 will be provided for successful candidate.

The applicant is expected to meet the following requirements

  • Undergraduate degree related to Biomedical Sciences / Pharmacy / Biosciences / Molecular Biology / or other related disciplines with a first or upper second class
  • Possess a good command of English, both spoken and written
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel, possess own transport with valid driving license. The candidate is required to travel for field sampling and propagating the dust mites’ culture in International Medical University, Bukit Jalil (Year1) and mammalian cell culture work in University of Nottingham Malaysia (Year2)
  • Willingness to work with dust mites and ozone therapy effect on the dust mites
  • Other necessary attributes include self-motivated, ability to work independently and a team, hard-working, resourceful and willing to learn/share. Biweekly/ monthly progress report is expected from the candidate.
