The Asian Institute for Policy and Engagement (AIPE) is a recently-established policy institute at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, whose purpose is to enable academic research to drive public policy solutions for Malaysia and Asia. We envision a society whose public policies are shaped by grounded, data-driven research, and our mission is to conduct policy-based research based on the academic expertise within UNM to advocate for solutions to the larger community. In bridging the academia - public policy divide, AIPE aims to be an active stakeholder in the public policy space in Malaysia and beyond. Our three pillars of work are Economics, Trade and Foreign Policy, Sustainability and Innovation, and Governance, Equity and Resilience.

AIPE is seeking a dynamic, curious and highly motivated Research Associate to join the team. As its first full-time staff, you will be in charge of institutional set-up, project management, stakeholder coordination and more. This is an opportunity not to be missed.

Generic Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operations of AIPE, including setting up of its administrative and other requirements as needed
  • Work with and manage student helpers/assistants, provide tasks and oversee the quality that is produced.
  • Conduct research for AIPE, including what is needed for proposal and grant writing.
  • Manage projects under AIPE and all tasks related to the said projects as required.
  • Manage budgets under AIPE, whether institutionally or related to the project(s).

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Good knowledge in the area
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adaptable and able to work well in a team environment
  • Disciplined, honest, and hardworking
  • Proactive and able to contribute ideas
