University of Nottingham Malaysia won the tenth Nottingham Tri Campus Games hosted by the University of Nottingham UK held from June 25 to 29, making it a second win following the previous victory in 2015 in the UK.

The Malaysia team won the competition, defeating teams from the University of Nottingham campuses in the UK and China. A unique event within the higher education sporting calendar. The Tri Campus Games brings together students from the University’s three international campuses in the UK, China and Malaysia annually.

According to Provost and CEO Professor Graham Kendall: We are proud of our students' success, both in their academic endeavours and also in many other activities they undertake. Malaysia’s triumph in the Tri Campus Games, where we competed against the UK and China campus, is a reflection on the broad range of skills of our students where the tri campus offering is able to significantly enhance student experience.

"Organising an event such as this is no easy task and all those involved should be congratulated on a well organised event that was played in good spirit and enjoyed by all. It demonstrates how the three campuses can work together in a competitive, yet harmonious way.

I would particularly like to congratulate the Malaysia team on their achievement, both those that competed and worked tirelessly in the background. It is a significant moment for us," Professor Kendall said.

The Games included teams competing in football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, squash, tennis, table tennis and Frisbee. The Games attracted nearly 200 students from over 20 different nations representing three international campus based teams.

The team was led by University of Nottingham Malaysia Sports Manager Muhammad Affendi Faizal Zubir.

The Malaysia Campus hosted the Tri Games in 2010, 2013, 2016 and will be hosting the games next year. The games are hosted on a rotation basis between the University Nottingham campuses in Malaysia, the UK and China.
