gcmy-article2

Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) Malaysia is proud to be a champion of the #mySPACE4Change initiative aimed at accelerating sustainable solutions launched on 9 June 2020 by Global Compact Network Malaysia (GCMY) at the Malaysian Houses of Parliament.

Officiated by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Parliament of Malaysia, YB Dato’ Haji Mohd Rashid bin Hasnon, the initiative establishes the largest private-sector enabled and corporate social responsibility (CSR) driven national multimedia platform in Malaysia. The platform aims to promote the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through public service announcements by partner creative agencies.

NUBS Malaysia has had a long-standing working relationship with GCMY. In October 2019, Director of Research, Associate Professor Mohan V. Avvari moderated a panel discussion on ‘Realising the Value of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – The ROI of Good Business’ at a GCMY ‘SDG Insight Series’ event, also held at the Malaysian Houses of Parliament. More recently, in May 2020, the Business School and GCMY jointly hosted a webinar featuring NUBS Honorary Professor of Sustainable Business, Tim Gocher, who spoke on how impact investment should play a role in the COVID-19 response.

Dean, Associate Professor Lau Chee Kwong said, “We are proud to support Global Compact Network Malaysia’s #mySPACE4Change initiative, whose commitment towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals goes hand-in-hand with Nottingham University Business School being a UN PRME (Principles of Responsible Management Education) Champion School.”

“Issues of sustainability and social responsibility have been at the core of what we do at the Business School, from research to teaching. Indeed, our Undergraduate and MBA programmes have been designed with ethics and sustainability themes built into the curriculum,” he added.

“We congratulate Global Compact Network Malaysia on the launch of this novel initiative, and look forward to forging more connections with GCMY and the SDG cause in the future.”
