UNM and OM, PIKOM Sign MoU to Contribute to the Malaysian GBS Industry

University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) and OM (formerly known as Outsourcing Malaysia), a chapter of PIKOM – The National Tech Association of Malaysia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 1 July 2020.

Initiated by OM, PIKOM, this MoU is part of an industry-academia collaboration and marks a milestone for both organisations in initiating a collaboration for the purpose of contributing to the Global Business Services (GBS) Industry in Malaysia.

The main objectives of this collaboration is for both parties to join forces in planning and conducting research and engaging in knowledge exchange activities.

UNM will assist OM, PIKOM through research and knowledge exchange in support of its goal in developing the GBS ecosystem in Malaysia. OM, PIKOM meanwhile, will serve as the platform that brings together all the stakeholders in the GBS industry including UNM through its business networks and events, which support UNM’s educational, research engagement and knowledge exchange goals.

Professor Graham Kendall, CEO and Provost of UNM said, “At UNM, we deliver research that transforms lives and shapes the future. Our collaboration with OM, PIKOM is one such example. This partnership is a benchmark for the industry and with it we hope to help transform the landscape of the Malaysian Global Business Services (GBS) industry.”

Mr. Cheah Kok Hoong, OM, PIKOM Chairman said, “This is another milestone for OM. The collaboration with UNM involves planning, research and engaging in knowledge exchange, contributing further towards the Global Business Services (GBS) industry in Malaysia. Data is oil for any industry and OM has been providing industry data to help many organisations for the past 14 years. This Academia and Industry partnership sets another benchmark to the industry.”
