UNM inks partnership with E Stream to increase student employability

The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) and E Stream – SQL Account HQ (E Stream) have signed an MOU to provide a platform to increase student employability.

The MOU was signed by UNM Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning Dr Hazel Melanie Ramos and E Stream Managing Director Desmond Law at a signing ceremony held at the UNM campus on 22 September.

“Academia-industry collaboration is important to ensure that our graduates are equipped to meet the demands of the industry,” Dr Ramos said.

Through this partnership, UNM and E Stream will grant UNM students from the business school access to the accounting software, SQL, which was developed by E Stream.

Additionally, both parties will collaborate on joint projects involving research; exchanges of ideas and facilities including attachment and mutual visits by staff members to pursue research, curriculum development, participation in seminars, conferences, workshops relevant to the industry; facilitation of industrial study visits of UNM undergraduate and postgraduate students; mutual visits by staff members for the purpose of enhancing learning experience, professional development and curriculum development; and facilitation of industrial placement of UNM students.

Also present at the MOU signing was UNM Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and Interim Dean of Nottingham University Business School Malaysia Dr Jason Pandya-Wood, UNM Interim Associate Dean for Teaching & Learning of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Dr Vengadeshvaran Sarma and E Stream Education Consultant Ong Bee Wei.

“It is a privilege for us to partner with E Stream on the educational and research front as we are confident that this will be a mutually beneficial partnership. The initial support that we have received from them has been very encouraging and we look forward to working closely with the team at E Stream.

E Stream is a Malaysian based software developer providing business processes application, namely accounting software, and payroll software, for businesses in Malaysia and around the ASEAN region. The company has 2 flagship products call SQL Account & SQL Payroll that are used by more than 250,000 companies in Malaysia.
