Fostering Excellence: University of Nottingham Malaysia Partners with MAICSA

The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) has recently entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) in effort towards fostering professional development and skills in the corporate landscape. This strategic partnership marks an exciting collaboration between two esteemed institutions, each renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and professional advancement. By joining forces, the University of Nottingham Malaysia and MAICSA aim to create a synergy that will propel individuals towards greater success in their respective fields.

Under this MoA, UNM and MAICSA will collaborate on various initiatives aimed at empowering professionals. One of the key highlights of this collaboration is a series of training organised by UNM specifically tailored for MAICSA members and non-members. These trainings will focus on enhancing critical thinking, continuous improvement, employee resilience, and well-being development, along with honing problem-solving skills. This strategic alliance aims to equip individuals with the necessary tools and competencies to thrive in today's dynamic and competitive business environment.

Expressing enthusiasm about the partnership, Professor Dr Hazel Melanie Ramos, Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning at University of Nottingham Malaysia shared, “We are thrilled to embark on this collaboration with MAICSA. This MoA not only underscores our commitment to fostering academic excellence but also highlights our dedication to fostering living partnerships between academia and industry. Through these workshops and joint initiatives, we aim to empower professionals with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to excel in their professional growth.”

The training programmes, meticulously designed by UNM's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, led by Associate Professor Dr Michael Mustafa from the Division of Organisational and Applied Psychology and Associate Professor Dr Mandy Sim, an experienced industry advisor specialising in strategy and global business services will provide MAICSA members and their associates with invaluable insights, practical strategies, and hands-on experiences. While it begins with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and with the support from the University’s Partnership Hub, it has the intention of expanding it to the other Faculty and Schools to cover a wider array of topics which are poised to be instrumental in facilitating professional growth and development as well organisational success.

Mr Simon Yeoh, President of MAICSA emphasised the significance of this collaboration, stating, “In today's fast-paced and interconnected world, continuous learning and adaptation are paramount for professionals to stay ahead. Through this partnership with the University of Nottingham Malaysia, we are excited to provide our members with access to high-quality training and development opportunities that will enable them to thrive in their careers.”

Professor Dr Hazel added, “Together, we can create a dynamic learning environment that will empower individuals to thrive in today's fast-paced and competitive world. We look forward to working closely with MAICSA to deliver impactful programs that will shape the future of corporate governance and administration in Malaysia and beyond.”

With a shared vision and a commitment to excellence, the University of Nottingham Malaysia and MAICSA are poised to enhance the landscape of professional development, empowering individuals to unlock their full potential and drive positive change in their organisations and communities.
