Semenyih, Selangor, 17 June 2025 -- The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) hosted a high-level delegation from Jimei University (JMU) recently, reinforcing their shared vision for international academic excellence and student mobility.
The meeting, held at UNM’s campus in Semenyih, was led by Professor David FitzPatrick, Provost and CEO of UNM, and Professor Wang Jian, Vice President of JMU. It centred on expanding the strategic partnership between the two institutions, particularly through the 2+2 International Pathway Programme that facilitates global student exchange and degree completion.
This collaboration underscores UNM's commitment to providing globally relevant and high-quality education, and the university is pleased to continue building meaningful academic partnerships with Jimei University.
The 2+2 programme allows students from JMU to complete two years of undergraduate studies in China before transferring to UNM to complete their degree. This collaboration provides students with the opportunity to earn a globally recognised qualification in areas such as Finance, Business, and Economics.
During the discussions, both universities reaffirmed their intention to finalise a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) by the end of 2025, further strengthening their institutional ties and commitment to international collaboration. There was also mutual interest in broadening the scope of the 2+2 pathway to other programmes in the future.
The visit concluded with a gift exchange ceremony and a campus tour led by UNM’s international team, offering delegates a glimpse into student life and the vibrant academic environment at UNM.
This strategic collaboration between UNM and JMU highlights a continued commitment to global education, nurturing talent that transcends borders and fosters innovation through academic partnerships.
