Strengthening Educational Collaboration
The visit provided an opportunity for the Embassy delegation and University leadership to discuss developments in higher education, international student mobility, and opportunities for collaboration between Chinese institutions and UNM.
As a British university with campuses in the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and China, the University of Nottingham is uniquely positioned to connect students, academics, and institutions across regions through teaching, research, and academic exchange.
During the discussion, UNM highlighted its ongoing engagement with the Chinese education sector, including its growing Chinese student population, academic partnerships, and initiatives that support international study pathways and student mobility. China remains one of the University's key international student markets, making continued engagement with Chinese educational stakeholders an important part of UNM's internationalisation efforts.
Engaging with the Chinese Student Community
A highlight of the visit was a meeting between the Embassy representatives and a group of Chinese students currently studying at UNM.
The session gave students an opportunity to engage directly with the delegation, share their experiences of studying and living in Malaysia, and discuss their academic journeys in an international learning environment. The exchange also underscored UNM's commitment to supporting its international student community and fostering cross-cultural understanding.
The visit concluded with a luncheon attended by the Embassy delegation, University leadership, and Chinese student representatives, providing an opportunity for further dialogue and networking.

UNM values its strong relationship with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia and remains committed to advancing educational exchanges, institutional partnerships, and opportunities for student mobility.
The visit reflects UNM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international collaboration and further its role as a global education hub connecting Malaysia, China, and the United Kingdom.
