The University of Nottingham has been ranked 97th globally and 16th in the UK in the QS World University Rankings 2027. This affirms Nottingham’s standing as a leading global university, recognised for delivering world-class education underpinned by outstanding research and international collaboration.
Professor Jane Norman, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham, said: “In a highly competitive global landscape, this recognition reflects our commitment to delivering an exceptional education, shaped by research that is addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. We equip our students with the knowledge, skills and mindset to make a positive contribution, fulfil their potential and change what comes next.”
The QS World University Rankings evaluate more than 8,800 institutions worldwide using indicators including research, employability, internationalisation and sustainability. This year’s rankings include 94 new entrants, including four from the UK.
Nottingham’s performance is supported by strong scores across several key areas, including 34 for International Research Network and 38 for Sustainability, showcasing the strength of its global partnerships and the impact of its research in addressing major global challenges.
The results also highlight the University’s continued focus on preparing students for future success. Nottingham has seen an increase in its employer reputation score, reinforcing its standing among global employers. The university is ranked as the UK’s top institution for graduates entering highly skilled employment (The Higher Education Statistics Agency Graduate Outcomes 2026).
There has also been an increase in Nottingham’s international student score, reflecting the diversity and strength of its global community.
Professor Norman continues: “These results are a testament to the talent, dedication and commitment of our staff, students and alumni, whose contributions shape our community and continue to define Nottingham as a truly global university.”
A UK education, made accessible in Asia

As the first British university campus in Malaysia and in the world, the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) has redefined access to global education since 2000. Today, it stands as a testament to how internationally recognised academic excellence can be delivered locally.
At UNM, students graduate with the same UK degree as their counterparts in Nottingham UK, supported by identical curriculum and academic standards. This consistency ensures that a Nottingham education in Malaysia carries the same global recognition and accreditation, while remaining accessible to students closer to home.
Professor David FitzPatrick, Provost and CEO of the University of Nottingham Malaysia, said: “For over 25 years, we have been committed to delivering exceptional British higher education in Malaysia—one that combines academic excellence with a global perspective and regional relevance. Our students from over 75 countries benefit from equivalent standards, teaching approaches, and opportunities as those in the UK, while being part of a diverse and dynamic international community right here in the heart of ASEAN. This recipe enables them to graduate ready to succeed anywhere in the world.”
Building on this, UNM continues to deliver strong graduate outcomes, with close to 100% of our graduates securing jobs or moving on to further study soon after completing their degrees. Our alumni have also gone on to make an impact across different industries and are highly regarded by employers from the top 100 global companies.
