Established in 1925, the School has grown steadily and is now at the forefront of academic development and progress. With the combined intake at the UK and Malaysia campuses, the School is one of the largest of the UK Schools of Pharmacy.
The University of Nottingham Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) 2+2 programme was the first Pharmacy degree to be fully accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain outside of Europe. Today, our Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) 2+2 programme has successfully retained accredited status from the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia until 2023 and from the General Pharmaceutical Council (the pharmacy regulator for Great Britain) until 2024. These important accreditations give our students the option to qualify and practise as pharmacists in the UK and Malaysia, as well in numerous other countries around the world that recognise the UK MPharm degree.
As well as having the first and the longest running MPharm 2+2 programme in Malaysia, Nottingham is currently the only University to offer a fully accredited MPharm 2+2 degree.
The MPharm and BSc programmes develop naturally from the pre-university subjects of chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics.
This is a four-year undergraduate Pharmacy programme that provides you with a unique opportunity to study in Malaysia and the UK. The first two years are studied at the Malaysia campus and the final two years at Nottingham's UK campus, you therefore have the unrivalled opportunity of learning and experiencing UK aspects of clinical pharmacy, prior to practice.
This three-year programme is taught entirely at the Malaysia campus. Selected Year 3 students will have the opportunity to complete their research projects in our UK campus. This programme puts you in an ideal position to pursue a career in Malaysia’s burgeoning RM5.95 billion pharmaceutical industry. Although understanding medicines is the main theme of the programme, the skills our students will acquire are applicable in many different careers related to chemistry as well as biotechnology.
