Biography
Ir. Dr. Freddy Tan Kheng Suan received his B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering in 2010 and Ph.D. in Power Electronics in 2015. In 2015, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the UMPEDAC, University of Malaya, and subsequently joined Asia Pacific University as a Senior Lecturer in 2016. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
Dr. Freddy is a Professional Engineer (Electrical) registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), and a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA), UK. He was awarded the Merdeka Award for International Attachment in 2021 and the ASEAN-ROK Exchange Fellowship in 2016. To date, he has secured more than RM1.5 million in national and international research grants.
He has also served as a guest researcher at Aalborg University and Ajou University. His research interests include power converters and wide-bandgap semiconductor devices. In addition, he has acted as a consultant for various industries in the areas of power electronics converters and GaN semiconductor technologies.
