Assistant Professor, Mobility Coordinator, Lab Coordinator,
Dr. Wong Hoo Keat graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Bsc(Hons), and a PhD in Psychology, investigating human face recognition with the use of eye trackers. After obtaining his Doctorate, he worked as lecturer in Cognitive Neuroscience (2019-2020) at HELP University Subang 2 Campus and started at UNM as an Assistant Professor in the School of Psychology in May 2020.

As a cognitive psychologist, Dr Hoo Keat's research focuses on cross-cultural face perception, more specifically on the own-race bias in face memory (i.e. poorer recognition of other-race faces compared to own-race faces). With the use of eye trackers, he investigates how interracial contact, cultural factors, and media exposure may interact to influence the underlying mechanisms of human face processing. More recently, he has adopted combined techniques - eye-tracking and heart rate variability (HRV) - to study attentional biases and emotional face processing in depressive individuals and to examine the psychophysiological effects of mindfulness breathing meditation.
