Nottingham alumna Professor Christine Ennew

Professor Christine Ennew, the Provost and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus graduated with a PhD in economics from the UK campus in 1984.

Since 1987 she has held a number of leading roles in Nottingham that led to her current position of leading the Malaysia Campus, home to around 5000 students and almost 700 staff.

In fact, Professor Christine Ennew has been the heart of the University’s ambitious internationalisation programme over the last 20 years that led to the development of the University’s pioneering campus in Malaysia and the subsequent development of the campus in China.

Under her leadership, UNMC has seen a significant growth in research performance, the development of innovative off-shore programmes and a restructuring of a number of organisational functions to support UNMC’s ambitious strategy. Professor Ennew has also been instrumental in establishing the Centre for Islamic Business and Finance Research, the Women in Science Engineering and Technology Group (WinSET) and the UNMC Foundation. During her tenure, the campus’s infrastructure has been developed to encompass 1,200 new accommodation rooms, a new food court, four state-of-the-art learning hubs, the extension of the Datuk Sir Colin Campbell Building and a new teaching building.

Professor Ennew’s academic expertise is in the area of services management and marketing, focusing on financial services and education. She has published some 100 articles in refereed journals, presented over 60 refereed conference papers and produced 4 books.
