25th Intervarsity Biochemistry Seminar

The Intervarsity Biochemistry Seminar (IBS) is an annual event of the Malaysian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (MSBMB) which provides a platform for undergraduates to present and share their research findings, exchange ideas and research experiences particularly in the biochemistry, molecular biology and biotechnology fields. This year, we have 6 Biosciences BSc students presented their final year projects in both oral and poster formats in the 25th IBS which was held in National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM) on 17th May 2014. We are very proud of having two Best Presentation Award winners from UNMC for oral and poster categories, which were judged as Top Three out of 39 presenters from 8 public and private universities in Malaysia. The winners are Ms Yong Jay Sze as the “Best Oral Presenter” and Ms Hla Myint Zu as the “Best Poster Presenter”. Their presented titles were “Development of enzyme-linked amperometric genosensor for detection of Avian Influenza viral genes” and “Chitosan-titanium dioxide nanotube scaffolds for proliferation and early differentiation of MG63 by functionalization with fetal bovine serum”, respectively. This is such a pronounced achievement which would definitely encourage a continual participation of our students to showcase their research in the subsequent seminars.
