Professor Christine Ennew, Professor of Marketing, CEO and Provost 
Professor Ennew was invited to speak at various forums and dialogues:

  • The Future of International Education organised by Boustead Globalisation Lecture, Kuala Lumpur, 11 February 2015
  • Leadership in Private Higher Education: Issues and Challenges organised by Akademi Kepimpinan Pengajian Tinggi (AKEPT), Kuala Lumpur, 26 February 2015
  • Language, Knowledge Exchange and Higher Education: British Council Strategic Dialogue organised by the British Council, Jakarta, 12 March 2015 
Dr Michael Yap, Senior University Teaching Fellow
Dr Yap was invited to give a guest lecture at HELP University to staff and students of the University of London programme. His lecture was entitled Malaysian Economy: Past Performance, Challenges, and The Way Forward. Dr Yap highlighted the success factors in the economy, especially the trade openness and role of foreign direct investment in export-oriented manufacturing. He highlighted that there are challenges to continued prosperity as the country aspires to become a high-income economy by moving up the value chain. He also looked at how Malaysia should respond to its changing comparative advantage. Issues included:

  • the changing role of the state to promote competitiveness
  • being attractive to higher quality FDI
  • promoting local entrepreneurship
  • broadening the manufacturing export base
  • proper positioning in international trade agreements
  • boosting the quality of human resources
  • improving the education system, and overcoming political obstacles to reform  
The talk was held in Kuala Lumpur on 25 March 2015. 

Ms Mandy Sim, University Teaching Fellow in Management
Ms Sim was invited to speak and moderate a panel discussion session at the Revolutionising Recruitment and Retention 2015 Conference. The conference was held from 24-25 March 2015 in Kuala Lumpur and was attended by senior HR practitioners. Ms Sim conducted the discussion session on Cracking the Y-Code: How to Retain the Challenging Millennial Generation with the Vice President of Human Capital Development, Intraco Penta, Group Head of Leadership and Talent Management, AirAsia, and Recruitment and Integration Manager, L’Oreal Malaysia.
