Biography
Sheena Baharudin is an Assistant Professor in Literature and Creative Writing at the School of Humanities, University of Nottingham Malaysia. She is the author of two bilingual collections of poetry Rhymes for Mending Hearts and All the Bodies We've Embraced. Her work has garnered international recognition, with translations into Spanish and French, and features in numerous local and international anthologies.
As both a poet and performer with over 15 years worth of experience in the verbal arts, her poetry is deeply rooted in Southeast Asian oral traditions while embracing contemporary spoken word forms. She has delivered solo and ensemble performances at events such as Urbanscapes, Iskarnival Festival, Melaka Arts Festival, Georgetown Literary Festival, Singapore Lit Up Festival, Kuala Lumpur Youth Literary Arts Festival, Poetry Festival Singapore, and London's National Poetry Library.

Dr. Sheena holds a PhD in Malaysian Literature in English from the University of Nottingham Malaysia and an MA in English Literary Studies from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Her expertise encompasses contemporary storytelling, spoken word poetry, performance studies, postcolonial studies, and postcolonial perspectives on oral traditions in Southeast Asia.
Her research interests include Literature and Performance, New Media in Contemporary Poetry, Multilingualism in Poetry, Malaysian and Singaporean Literature in English, and Creative Writing Theory and Practice.

Research Supervision:
Dr Sheena has co-supervised MPhil and PhD students on a wide array of topics within literature and creative writing. As a researcher-practitioner, she welcomes proposals aligning with her research interests, particularly those focusing on storytelling, oral traditions, and performance poetry. She is keenly interested in supervising projects that embrace an interdisciplinary approach at the intersection of theory and practice.
