The School of Pharmacy at The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) invites applications for Assistant Professor position. The post holder will be expected to contribute to academic activities through the delivery of high-quality teaching and research, and they will be required to undertake administrative work and/or management functions as required and to generally assist with the efficient and effective running of the School of Pharmacy and wider faculty and university. The position will involve working closely with colleagues at the UK Schools.
Job Responsibilities:
- Carry out any other relevant duties appropriate to the level and role of the post holder as established with the Head of School (UNM).
- Undertake foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision as appropriate: design, updating and review of module content and documentation; delivery of contact teaching (lectures, practicals, workshops, case studies); assessment of student performance; intellectual and pastoral support to students; design and execution of assessment.
- Develop and sustain an international reputation as a research leader through original research work. Publish results of research through leading peer-reviewed international publications, and present or exhibit at national/international conferences and other similar events in internationally recognised outputs.
- Work closely with the Head of School (UNM) and professional and regulatory bodies in the UK and Malaysia, e.g., GPhC, PBM, MQA, to ensure that all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes remain accredited / recognised.
Job Requirements:
- PhD (or about to complete) in Pharmacology
- Bachelor or Master Degree in Pharmacy
- Knowledge of and/or exposure to the Malaysia pharmacy profession.
- Registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia.
- Excellent organisational skills and the potential for leadership.
- Proven skills in motivating colleagues and undergraduate / postgraduate students.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, demonstrating the ability to represent the School, both within the University and externally.
- Communication, research and teaching skills.
- Experience in an academic role at a School/Faculty of Pharmacy (or related subject) in Malaysia and/or the UK.
- Experience of working as a member of a team, using demonstrable interpersonal, negotiating, influencing and teambuilding skills.
- Possess an excellent command of English and be an outstanding communicator, who will act as an ambassador for the School and wider faculty and university.
