Kuala Lumpur, 28 October 2025 – The University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, to jointly drive innovation in AI and big data education.
The partnership led by the University’s School of Politics, International Relations and Economics, will expand opportunities for UNM students to gain real-world, industry-grade experience in emerging technologies — equipping them with skills that meet the growing demand for digital talent across Malaysia and the ASEAN region.
At the signing ceremony held at Alibaba Cloud’s Malaysia Country Office, Professor Hazel Melanie Ramos, Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning of UNM, and Mr. Kun Huang, General Manager of Malaysia, Alibaba Cloud Global, formalised the collaboration.
Under the MoU, the two institutions will:

By embedding practical training and cross-disciplinary learning into our programmes, we’re preparing our students to lead in a data-driven global economy.”
Mr. Kun Huang, General Manager of Malaysia, Alibaba Cloud Global added, “Talent development is central to our mission. By working with UNM, we’re helping to cultivate digital professionals who can power innovation across Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.”
As Malaysia accelerates its national digital transformation agenda, the UNM–Alibaba Cloud partnership represents a strategic and timely investment in developing future-ready graduates, fostering knowledge exchange, and bridging the skills gap to strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.
