University of Nottingham Malaysia Library is working on migrating the EZproxy authentication system to a cloud-based solution. This will change the URL of direct links to any eResources and you may need to update any links you have previously saved or shared. Read on for more details of the change and the recommended actions.
What is EZproxy?
EZproxy enables off-campus access to the library’s licensed eResources through specially constructed URLs that pass the user through EZproxy. This shows resource providers that the user is coming from a University of Nottingham Malaysia IP address so that access is granted to the resource. Currently, our URLs are prefixed by https://ezproxy.nottingham.edu.my/login?url= and this will change to https://unm-ezproxy.idm.oclc.org/login?url= when the new service goes live.
What do I need to do?
You may find that any direct links no longer work if they contain ezproxy.nottingham.edu.my. The switch is currently in progress. You may begin to check your links now.
Library staff have updated links in existing reading lists, and will continue to do regular checks. However, any links that you have previously saved within the Talis Aspire online reading list system under "My Bookmarks" (i.e., not necessarily added to a specific list) may no longer work.
You can either check and change the URL as outlined above, or simply delete the item and bookmark it again to get the corrected link.
Other direct links
Any other direct links to resources such as those added as favourites on your PC browser, to a document or slides, or embedded on your Moodle page, will no longer work if they contain ezproxy.nottingham.edu.my
If you have any queries or encounter any issues with access to eResources during this switchover period, please email The Library at ELib.Helpline@nottingham.edu.my or call 03 8924 8318/8319. You may also drop-in to our ‘Chat with your librarian’ (Monday to Friday, 2pm-5pm) on MS Teams.
