Business School engages with senior civil servants in JPA-BMCC Management Development Programme

Nottingham University Business School (NUBS) Malaysia delivered a two-week executive education module to participants of the 19th JPA-BMCC Management Development Programme, a collaborative management development programme between the Malaysian Public Services Department (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam - JPA) and the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC).

This is a bi-yearly programme undertaken by the BMCC with the aim providing senior government officers opportunity to gain hands-on experience and exposure to the dynamics of modern-day business management systems via training and working with British organisations both in Malaysia and in their parent companies in the United Kingdom.

The companies involved in this year's JPA-BMCC programme included Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia, HSBC Bank Malaysia, BP Asia Pacific, Tesco Stores, BAE Systems, Plus Three Consultants, Accenture Management Consulting, and the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

The theme for this year’s Programme, held on April 18-30, was Creativity and Innovative Work Culture - A Catalyst to Performance Excellence, aimed at building a strategic mindset of performance excellence in organisations. In support of this aim, NUBS Malaysia formulated the various sessions within its module to feature both theoretical and practical perspectives. These were delivered in workshop format, utilising case studies, breakout sessions, team and individual creative activities, role playing, games, and lectures to consolidate the learning points. Altogether, nine sub-topics were covered by seven instructors in a highly interactive ten-day programme.

The business modules were coordinated by Dr Eunice Ngat-Chin Lim (Director of Executive Education) and supported by instructors in their respective areas of expertise and experience.
