NSE Malaysia welcomes three new staff in September 2014.

Dr David Prentice
, who joins the School as an Associate Professor, obtained his PhD in Economics from the
Yale University in 1998. His fields of expertise are in empirical industrial organisation, economic history and
empirical labor economics. His work has been published in, among others, Economic Inquiry, International Journal
of Industrial Organisation, Labour Economics and Economic Record. Before joining NSE Malaysia, Dr Prentice
worked in the La Trobe University, Australia for 17 years and had held visiting positions at renowned universities, including UCLA, Cornell University, Australian National University, University of Melbourne, Georgetown University
and Lehigh University.  He has supervised 11 PhD students and has co-authored a textbook, Managerial Economics:
A Strategic Approach
. Dr Prentice teaches Quantitative Economics II to IV in the 2014/2015 academic year.

Dr Kong Yoke Fong, who joins the School as an Assistant Professor, obtained her PhD in Economics from the University of Nottingham in February 2014. Her field of expertise is in international trade. Before joining NSE Malaysia, Dr Kong served as a lecturer at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. Dr Kong teaches Economic Integration I and II, as well as International Trade Policy in the 2014/2015 academic year.

Ananta Neelim, who joins the School as an Assistant Professor, completed his PhD from the Monash University, Australia in August 2014. Ananta’s fields of expertise are in experimental economics, development economics and behavioral economics. Ananta teaches Quantitative Economics I, Microeconomic Theory and Advanced Experimental and Behavioral Economics in the 2014/2015 academic year.


Datuk Yvonne Chia appointed as an Honorary Professor at NSE Malaysia

Datuk Yvonne Chia, Group Managing Director and CEO of Hong Leong Banking Group from 2003 to 2013, has
been appointed as an Honorary Professor of NSE Malaysia. Datuk Chia, who is currently an Independent Director
of Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad and Shell Refining Company (Federation of Malaya) Berhad, became the first Woman CEO of any commercial bank in Malaysia when she was named to head RHB Bank in 1996. She will share
her vast experience in the financial sector with our students through guest lecturing in some of our modules. 


NSE Malaysia congratulates the second batch of graduates

The School congratulates 21 students from our second batch who graduated on 16 August 2014. This batch of students have performed exceptionally well both academically and in extracurricular activities. Five of the students
will pursue their master degrees in universities around the world in September, including two with full scholarships.
Seven other students have secured jobs in prestigious companies such as IBM, Royal Bank of Scotland, Frank
Knight, HSBC, UOB, RHB and Alliance Bank, even before the official graduation ceremony in August.


NSE Malaysia student excel in extra-curricular activities   

NSE Malaysia students continue to excel in extra-curricular activities. A number of our students have played key leadership roles in student organisations and societies, including Nikhil Ramchandani (Chair of Student Council,
2013-2014), Rohini Ghosh (Vice Chair of Student Council, 2014-2015), Keshni Sritharan (General Secretary of Student Council, 2014-2015), Peter Ang Poh Kong (President of AIESEC Nottingham Malaysia, 2014-2015), Lee
Ting Wei
(Vice President of AIESEC Nottingham Malaysia, 2013-2014), Lee Teng Hau (Vice President of AIESEC,
2013-2014), Liew Shi Yun (President of the Wall Street Society, 2013-2014), Lee Wai Chun (Vice President of
Chinese Cultural Society, 2013-2014) and Rushil Seegolam (Deputy Finance Director of Nottingham Malaysia
Model United Nations, 2012-2013).

Our students have also been very successful in securing internships, including at renowned companies such as
Bank Negara Malaysia, Securities Commission, Ernst & Young, Frost & Sullivan, McKinsey, AC Nielsen, RAM
Rating Services, Grameen Bank, Citibank, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Maybank, CIMB and RHB.
