Throughout the
year, you can attend a series of workshops designed for international students.
These are customised to help you to brush up your skills and gain valuable
career insights during your study abroad.

1) Job Search Strategies for the International Arena
You’ve submitted your resume and cover
letter online for the job openings that seem to fit you. Is there anything else
you can do to land a right job? Job hunting is not about number, it is about
strategy. To be a successful job seeker, you need to utilize the importance of
job search strategies to effectively market yourself and avoid the same
mistakes.
Students will be led along the discovery
of the expectation of employers and of self. This would apply to formulate a
strategy during their course of job hunting. Participants will also learn about
the major job search tools, exploring the pros of each job search channels. You
will also learn how to make the best use of online portals and social media for
today’s job search.

2) Raising your Value as an International Student
International students might not aware
that the years abroad can help them to develop skill sets value by employers. Therefore,
it is important to emphasize the value of an international student by
highlighting their experience and relate how these experiences can apply to the
job.
This workshop will discuss how to maximise
your value as an international students. Questions such as “How to connect your
international study experience to career”, “How to optimize opportunity
available during your study?” and “how to equip yourself with international
competencies?” will be highlighted.

4) Working in Malaysia
Living and working in Malaysia is possible
yet challenging. It is always not easy to find a job or get a permit, there are
plenty of issue require your attention. Are you curious about working in
Malaysia and not sure where to begin?
This session will provides you with job
market overview in Malaysia and info about work visa. Participants will also
learn about the challenges faced by employers and gather basic information on
potential employers.

5) Cross-cultural Networking
Networking has always played an important
role in today’s corporate world. It is a cornerstone to explore career
opportunities or to facilitate your career advancement. Albeit the difference
in etiquette among cultures, the reasons for networking are generally similar,
that is to build rapport with others and to learn from each other’s’
experience.
Students will learn about the importance
of cross-cultural networking in job search and business. Students will learn on
how to craft a conversation starter and elevator speech through demo and role
play. This workshop will also expose the participants to some common practises
at local and international business settings.
