Biography

Wing Leong Teo joins the School of Economics, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus as an Associate Professor in July 2011. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University in 2006. Prior to joining UNM, he has taught at the National Taiwan University. His research interests include macroeconomics, international finance and monetary economics. Wing Leong has been an academic visitor to the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the City University of Hong Kong, as well as a consultant for the Central Bank of China (Taiwan). He is also a research fellow of the Centre for Finance, Credit and Macroeconomics (CFCM) and a research fellow and the Malaysia Coordinator for the Nottingham Centre for Research on Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP). He has assumed the role of Head of School of Economics at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus since February 2014.

Wing Leong has taught World Economy, Monetary Economics, Introduction to Macroeconomics, Macroeconomic Theory, Financial Economics and Advanced Financial Economics at the UNM. He also had experience teaching Intermediate Macroeconomics, International Finance (undergraduate and post-graduate) and Macroeconomic Theory (post-graduate) in both English and Chinese at the National Taiwan University.

Current Research

Wing Leong's research interest spans macroeconomics, international finance and monetary economics. Most of his research involves the use of Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) models to evaluate the nature of business cycles, inflation dynamics, asset price dynamics, as well as the optimal design of monetary and fiscal policies in both closed economy and open economy settings. He has published in academic journals including European Economic Review, Journal of International Money and Finance and Regional Science and Urban Economics.
